Hey again. As most of you know the government is organizing a nationwide run this saturday. It will be held at all government schools if I am not mistaken. It is not a cross country as that has done in the beginning of the year. It is a run to commemorate the governments new inishative which is 1 Sukan, 1 Murid, 1 Malaysia which means 1 Sport, 1 Student, 1 Malaysia or something like that. I am not going to go any deeper into that topic. I will however tell you that today marks my 300th KM since October in jogging. I am not going to write about that either.
What I am going to write about is the best way to jog. This is based on my experience and it might be wrong but hopefully it wont. Let us start.
Firstly, I recommend you jog accompanied with music. It makes you forget about the pain and keeps you in a steady pace. Today I had to run without my iPod since it was out of juice. I can tell you one thing, the running gets really boring. How many times do I need to hear my feet stepping onto the pavement. I could not keep in pace and was lacking a certain energy boost.
Secondly, make sure you are wearing clothes that are comfortable. I wear a normal cotton shirt but it is all wet by the end of the run. The dry fit shirts which absorb your sweat are known to be very good. I like wearing sports shorts and can't stand the feeling of track pants. What you wear is all up to you but make sure you have a good pair of shoes. They don't have to be expensive but just good.
NEVER start running fast in the beginning of your run. It is a death sentence especially if you are planning to jog the whole distance. Start nice and slow and get into an appropriate pace. Try to end a jog at the same speed you started it at.
Now if you just started jogging, don't try to jog the whole way. I have done research and for a beginner, its best to jog for 1 minute and walk at a fast pace for 5. As you improve jog more and walk less. Always start with doing a run you know you can finnish. Don't go straight for the marathon.
When you run, try to keep your feet as close as possible. According to my doctor, you use less energy if your feet are closer. It really works. You run faster using the same amount of energy if you practiced this habit.
ALWAYS stretch before and after your run. Honestly I rarely stretch after my runs but before is a must. If you don't you will experience major pains during you run. So much that you will have to stop. It is like a never ending cramp. I have noticed (and so has a few of my friends) that if I take orange juice before jogging I will have severe pains during the jog. That could just be me but I would still recommend to avoid the drink well before going for a run.
I have given almost everything I know about how to jog. I really had nothing to post and looked at my shirt which was soaking wet from my run. I thus decided to write about jogging. Until next time, bye.
